Can the Kia EV3 tow?  Maximum towing capacity of the Kia EV3 – need a Kia EV3 towbar?

The Kia EV3 is a compact, fully electric SUV that blends innovative design with advanced technology, aiming to make electric mobility more accessible.

Design and Interior

The EV3 features a distinctive, futuristic design with bold lines and a boxy stance, contributing to an impressive drag coefficient of 0.26. Inside, it offers a spacious, lounge-like atmosphere, accommodating five passengers comfortably. The interior is equipped with a 30-inch-wide digital interface that combines three screens: a 12.3-inch driver display, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 5.3-inch panel dedicated to climate control. Sustainable materials, such as recycled fabrics and bio-based alternatives to leather, are used throughout the cabin.

Performance and Range

Built on Kia's Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV3 offers two battery options:

  • Standard Model: 58.3 kWh battery
  • Long Range Variant: 81.4 kWh battery

Both versions are powered by a 150 kW electric motor, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 170 km/h. The Long Range model provides an estimated range of up to 600 km (WLTP).

Charging and Efficiency

The EV3 supports fast charging, capable of replenishing the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 31 minutes. It features Kia's i-Pedal 3.0 technology, allowing for adjustable regenerative braking levels to enable one-pedal driving, enhancing energy efficiency and driving comfort. Additionally, the Smart Regenerative System 3.0 automatically adjusts deceleration based on road conditions, contributing to a smoother driving experience.

Technology and Features

The EV3 is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist. It also offers Remote Smart Parking Assist, a 12-inch Head-up Display, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging, which allows the vehicle to power external devices such as laptops or small appliances.

Towing with the EV3

The Kia EV3 offers varying towing capacities depending on the model:

  • Standard Range (58.3 kWh battery): Maximum braked trailer weight of 500 kg.
  • Long Range (81.4 kWh battery): Maximum braked trailer weight of 1,000 kg.

Both models have a maximum tow ball weight of 100 kg

These specifications make the EV3 suitable for light towing needs, such as small trailers or bike racks.

The Kia EV3 redefines the compact electric SUV segment by combining a futuristic design, impressive range, and a suite of advanced features. It offers a compelling option for those seeking sustainable mobility without compromising on practicality or performance.
