Can the 2nd generation Toyota C-HR tow? Maximum C-HR towing capacity? Need a Toyota C-HR towbar? 

Toyota had a monopoly on the small SUV market when it was first introduced.  Buyers are now spoiled for choice.  How does the new 2nd generation C-HR stock up?

Firstly, the new 2024 Toyota C-HR is now available as a hybrid only.  Secondly, the C-HR is 35mm wider and 30mm shorter than before, despite maintaining the same wheelbase.
Lastly, the styling definitely stands out from the crowd, and is bound to appeal to younger drivers looking for a funky small SUV.

The new C-HR brings a new level of premium luxury to the small SUV segment, blending dynamic design and strong technology with a high level of specification and low fuel consumption.

A plethora of standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, a 7.0-inch driver's display, 12.3-inch infotainment system, six-speaker sound system, keyless entry, push-button start, and a wide range of safety systems.

As the original C-HR pushed the boundaries for Toyota and blurred the lines between the luxury Lexus brand, the C-HR takes a lot of high-end appointments from more expensive vehicles and manages to fit them into a compact cabin.

All models feature high-resolution 12.3-inch displays for the central touchscreen, running Toyota’s latest interface and fully featured in terms of connectivity and net-based services. The base models get a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, while the higher spec range get Toyota’s flagship 12.3-inch digital cockpit.
The sweeping dash and cockpit-style design also give off a sporting feel, and regardless of variant you get comfortable seats, heaps of adjustment, and premium-feeling materials
Build quality feels pretty good across the board, and there’s a nice solidity to the action of the various buttons and controls throughout the cabin. Thankfully, Toyota decided to retain physical switches for the most commonly used functions.

Toyota has been perfecting hybrids for over 20 years, and the 2024 C-HR doesn’t deviate much from the established formula. In the traditional Toyota set-up, the C-HR has a series-parallel hybrid system, which means either the electric motor or petrol engine can drive the wheels, with the onboard computer determining which is best in any given situation. Everything taken care of to maximise fuel efficiency.

The fifth-generation hybrid powertrain is available in front- and all-wheel drive.
Either a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol with a 70kW/142Nm electric motor (17kW more than before) for 103kW, or the AWD 2.0-litre hybrid, producing 145kW in total, the AWD GR Sport gets a punchier 83kW front axle electric motor and 30kW rear-mounted drive unit for added stability.

The original C-HR was one of the early adopters of the TNGA platform and offered a beautifully balanced drive – this new one is even better again.  It's not a performance car, but is pleasant to drive with adequate power.  The new C-HR offers fluid and accurate steering which makes it really nice to pilot both in town, on the freeway, and on winding country roads. 

Awarded a 5-Star ANCAP safety rating, the new C-HR has an abundant standard safety kit.
This includes 10 airbags, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian, cyclist, junction and head-on detection, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, and a driver monitoring camera.

Helping with a lack of outward vision are front and rear parking sensors with low-speed auto braking, and there’s a surround-view camera, plus blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
