Officially a 4 door sedan, but the new Panamera is one of the most impressive Porsches ever produced.  A perfect blend of performance, economy and luxury. Can it tow? Towing capacity?  Need a Porsche Panamera towbar?

Porsche manages to balance luxury with true sports car performance in a way no other automaker can. The new Panamera is bigger, wider, taller and rides on a longer wheelbase but it now also looks like a proper Porsche.

The second-generation Panamera is based on the VW Group’s new MSB platform and from the ground up is completely new. The interior has been completely ovehaulled, while outside, it now looks like the 911’s bigger brother – something the old model didn’t quite manage. Not withstanding being more practical and fuel-efficient, too.

The new Panamera had to look like the 911, an inarguably beautiful car, but the challenge was that a 911 is not over five metres long and well over 2m wide, nor does it have to sit four adults in comfort.   The final result is a huge step forward from the original car.

At 5049mm, the new car is 34mm longer but doesn’t look it. Its wheelbase has been increased by 30mm to 2950 and the front wheels moved forward to shorten the front overhang and increase the A-pillar to front axle dimension to add more ‘power’ to the look.

It is a Porsche, so is made for speed.  The 4S accelerates to 100km/h in 4.2sec with optional Sports Plus and gets to 200km/h from a standing start in 15.9sec. Its top speed is a claimed 289. The Turbo does the same standing start intervals in 3.6 and 13sec and tops 300km/h.

The Panamera's air springs, electronic shocks, rear steering, active anti-roll, and torque vectoring is overseen by what Porsche calls 4D Chassis Control. It analyzes the vehicle's trajectory and driver inputs in real-time and orders a coordinated response from all systems to ensure optimal turn-in response, agility, and stability.

The equipment in the new cabin is a real step forward. A number of logically laid out and touch-sensitive buttons replace the old Panamera’s cluttered design, while a widescreen HD display dominates the dash. The new Porsche Advanced Cockpit uses three large flat screens (two 7.0-inch and one 12.3-inch) and an analogue tacho to create an instrument panel and infotainment system that is cutting-edge in terms of its display clarity and flexibility.
Gadgetry includes a thermal night-vision camera, cabin ionizer, seat massagers, and semiautonomous cruise control.

Anyone sitting in the rear will be pleased, thanks to acres of legroom and decent headroom.

Once again a lift-back rather than a true saloon, the new Panamera even offers the ability to fold those rear buckets or use a load-through (ski-port). The boot is deeper than the previous model and easily fits a proper sized suitcase. The official luggage capacities are 495-1304 litres.  Need more space or to take your bikes along on the next weekend away?  Why not fit a Porsche Panamera towbar.  The first generation can tow up to 2000kgs, while Porsche has rated the new Panamera at a maximum of 2200ks - not bad for a "sports" car.

If price is no consideration, the new Panamera, is a hugely capable, highly technological and stunning car. Stunningly engineered and superbly executed - the best part is it can tow!

We have now have Invisible towbars available for both the 1st and 2nd generation Panamera's.  Order your Porsche towbar today.
