Can the new Mini Aceman EV tow?  Maximum towing capacity of the Aceman – need a Mini Aceman towbar?

The Mini Aceman is a fully electric subcompact crossover SUV introduced by Mini in 2024. Positioned between the smaller Mini Cooper and the larger Countryman, the Aceman offers a blend of compact dimensions and increased practicality.

Design and Interior

The Aceman showcases Mini's contemporary design language, featuring a distinctive exterior with plastic cladding, skid plates, and roof rails that emphasize its crossover appeal. Its compact dimensions include a length of 4,079 mm, height of 1,514 mm, and width of 1,991 mm.

Inside, the Aceman boasts a high-tech cabin centered around a 9.44-inch circular OLED touchscreen that manages most vehicle functions. The dashboard is adorned with knitted materials, and the seats are upholstered in either fabric or a vegan leather alternative called Vescin. Despite its compact size, the Aceman offers 300 liters of boot space, expandable to 1,005 liters with the rear seats folded.  Need to carry more or take your bikes along, why not fit our Invisible Mini Aceman towbar?

Towing with the Mini Aceman

The all-electric Mini Aceman offers a towing capacity of 750 - 1300 kg, depending on your specifications and region – check your owners manual. This capacity is suitable for towing small trailers, lightweight caravans, or carrying additional equipment for trips. However, it's important to note that this towing capacity is relatively modest compared to some larger vehicles, but keep in mind this is an EV.

When considering towing with the Mini Aceman, it's essential to account for the vehicle's payload limits and ensure that the combined weight of the vehicle, passengers, cargo, and trailer does not exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). Additionally, always adhere to local towing regulations and guidelines to ensure safety and compliance.

Performance and Driving Experience

The Aceman is available in two primary variants:

  • Aceman E: Equipped with a 135 kW (181 hp) electric motor and a 42.5 kWh battery, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and achieves a top speed of 160 km/h.
  • Aceman SE: Features a 160 kW (215 hp) motor paired with a 54.2 kWh battery, reaching 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds with a top speed of 170 km/h

Both models are front-wheel drive. The Aceman delivers nippy acceleration and grippy handling, consistent with Mini's reputation for fun-to-drive vehicles. However, some reviewers note that the ride can be firm, a characteristic common to modern Minis.

Range and Charging

The Aceman E offers a WLTP range of up to 309 km, while the Aceman SE extends this to 405 km. Charging capabilities include up to 11 kW for AC and up to 95 kW for DC fast charging, allowing for a substantial recharge in a relatively short time

Practicality and Limitations

While the Aceman provides more space than the Mini Cooper, it remains less practical compared to some rivals. The rear seating and boot space may be limiting for families requiring more room. Additionally, the vehicle's range and charging speeds, particularly in the Cooper E variant, are considered modest compared to some competitors.

Conclusion

The Mini Aceman stands out with its unique design, engaging driving dynamics, and high-quality interior. It appeals to those seeking a compact electric crossover with character. However, potential buyers should consider its limited practicality and range when evaluating it against other options in the segment.
